Of course, it was just her luck to be stuck down here. It couldn't have been the person before her, or after her, it had to be her. Some god somewhere really did not like her. At all.
For some reason, whatever deity that created her, if deities like that existed at all, had made her very observant of the emotions and possible thoughts of others, and that eventually led to her expectation that everyone should know what she meant and expected, all the time. But then she realised that people were simply too stupid to see what was in front of them, and she could hardly expect everyone to read her mind, which did nothing but vex her.
She remembered going to some old crack who thought she was a psychic, telling her about her 'emotional spectrum' or something."A happy face can hide the heart." The exact words. Gwen remembered them because they had struck a nerve somewhere very sharply. It went downhill from there.
Now this.
"No. No, you can't talk." Gwen couldn't help squeezing in the sarky remark, frustrated with everyone and everything suddenly. Sighing and biting her lip in order to swallow her anger - Thatch did nothing to deserve it - she turned to face him properly. "Well done, I suppose. What did you do that's made you freak out?"

OoC| Oh dear. I don't like it when the only inspiration available to me is from this vault. Ah well. It fluffs out the post xD -is a cheater- 9____9

Thatch flexed his jaw for a moment, still unsure of how to talk with it, though so far it seemed he was getting the hang of it.
"Br, back with the rrrats." He shook his head, annoyed with himself for a moment. "I just reremembered that I ate one. Not-t a good th-thought." He said and stuck out his tongue for a moment as he squinted his eyes.
"But, it did s-solve my hunger problems for a mo-ment. That's always good. Whatever the case, I'm tired, you prob-ably are too. Let's both get some sleep. Maybe we could get out of here tomorrow, after all we only had maybe a ten-tttthhhh of a day today." He suggested and stretched out on the old bed, unintentionally digging his claws into it.

ooc:... I'm going to stab myself if these things don't get better soon.

Gwen remained patiently silent, and then wrinkled her nose, not liking the feelings her imagination was sending to her throat, and a hand moved up to touch her neck instinctively.
Huh. How long have we been here? Gwen found herself wondering. It didn't seem like much time moments ago, but suddenly, as her state of mind slipped into something like repose, it seemed like an age.
"I guess you're right," Gwen replied quietly, staring at the wall, unable to tear her eyes away for a moment, eyes unblinking and wide. She shook her head sharply all of a sudden, almost as if she had awoken from a disturbing vision, and she shuffled backwards on the bed, lying back to rest her head on the pillow and stare at the patterns on the ceiling. She barely registered the bed's decrepit state before her eyelids began drooping. However, she simply could not sleep, although her eyes refused to open without great effort. Gwen just could not trust this place.

"hmm," Thatch opened his eyes, suddenly wondering when he fell asleep. He spied a clock nearby blinking 12:00, at this he jumped up off the bed and onto his feet and looked around for a second, then at himself.
"That's right, I'm not at home am I?" He asked himself and looked himself over. During his sleep his transformation had reversed itself and he was the same freaky mutant thing that he was before except that his armor skin was symmetrical on his hands, elbows, feet, knees, shoulders, ears, and wings as well as down his back and a little around his abdomen. Just as well, he also retained both of his long tails as well. He flexed his hand for a moment, they felt the same as before. He stretched his wings, they felt the same too, though it felt good to extend them after having them folded back for so long. The blue fur he had picked up a while back also stayed, though mostly around his armor skin and the two triangular sections on his face.
"Well," He sighed, "I wonder how we'll do today." He said and looked over to Gwen, not sure if she was awake yet or not.

ooc: Sorry for the wait. Writing block and finals. But both seem to be over now.

Gwen rolled over and sat up when she heard Thatch get up and looked at him for a moment before standing, rubbing her eyes.
She had eventually drifted off to sleep, although it was a fitful sleep, and she had been awake for about half an hour before Thatch had gotten up. She still looked a little tired, but her leg felt much better after a rest. Looking Thatch over, she tilted her head to one side for a minute.
"You're better then, I suppose." Yawning, she stretched her arms out before her, and then sighed a little. She had been disappointed each time to awaken and find that she was still living this nightmare. What did come as a mildly pleasant surprise, however, was that her hair was tidy even after her sleep, which shouldn't have really surprised Gwen as it could rearrange itself. As if it were reminding her of this, it quivered a little, prepared to move on. "I guess we'll go then. That is, unless you have something else you want to do."

"Not at all, for today we escape this horrible maze of confusion and become normal once again!" Thatch said and assumed a hero's pose much like in a cartoon. "I can't believe I didn't stutter that line!"
After this he relaxed and smiled at Gwen and began to speak normally again. "Let's see what we can do today, we'll at least get to sub five and then we can see about reversing these changes." With that he began to walk briskly out the door, his exit's dramatic effect effectively ruined when he caught a wing on the door frame for a moment and had to move around in order to keep from harming it.
Outside their room things had changed. For one, the floor seemed to have been burned during the night, and many of the doors were busted off their hinges. Thatch investigated for a moment before cautiously continuing up toward the next area, which was another corridor that branched into a few more. Thatch was getting a little annoyed as it seemed as if the hallways might be inter connected as if in a maze.
"Gwen, I'm starting to get worried about if this floor is normal or not. And why there are burn marks all over the place."

ooc: Well, I suck.

Only barely managing a weak smile in the direction of Thatch's quickly disappearing back, Gwen sighed and tiredly followed him from the room. It seemed she was already prepared to simply give in and submit to what she saw as her fate.
The old Gwen would have given her an earful about how Gwen, and Gwen only, crafted her own future, but the new Gwen was tired, so tired, and suddenly the concept of sleep was almost irresistable. She suddenly just wanted to lie down and forget and sleep and never wake up...
Her cheek stung suddenly as several strands of her hair struck her across the face. She choked for a second, jaw dropped, one hand gingerly touching the side of her face. Hmmn. It appeared that her hair didn't appreciate her 'quitter' mood. Right then. Only one thing to do about that.
"Wh-what? Were these corridors like this before? How could this have happened?" Gwen had snapped back to rationality, her desire to escape flaring up again. She scanned the burn marks all over the walls and the other damage, slowly following Thatch, each of her movements punctuated by a wary glance over her shoulder, as if something was going to attack.

OoC| I LIVE. The Apocalypse must be coming.

"No, they weren't like this before. Well, as far as I know. I mean I know the doors were on their hinges and there weren't any burns anywhere." Thatch said, beginning to feel as if he were rambling.
On and on they walked till it seemed like forever, every once in a while the burns around them lessening or vanishing, a sign that they were indeed moving forward. Suddenly, as they walked by a torn open door Thatch noticed something.
"Why are there stairs behind the door marked five o' three?" He asked and looked into the room which did hold stairs to the next floor. Unfortunately, whatever had trashed the floor had gone up the stairs and the stairs showed. Aside from the scorches on the walls and the door half way through the wall, the metal stairs themselves had bent as if under an unusually large amount of weight. Thatch cautiously tested one. It seemed to be fine, just bent out of sorts.
"Gwen, this is getting a little scary don't you think?" He asked before creeping up the stairs to the next floor, the door up there having gone missing as well. Inside Thatch was about as scared as ever and at the moment wished someone braver was with him, at least like the ones in movies who stay behind and send you off. After a moment's thought, Thatch realized that movies aren't real. A reality that he did in fact know, but always thought about in situations where he was scared out of his socks, much like when his former friends thought it would be funny to leave him in the woods at night alone for seven hours. The only difference was that this time he didn't have socks or shoes on, and it was an entirely different setting with different conditions. In hindsight, it wasn't all that similar after all.
Thatch peaked around the corner to see what might be there, but he didn't see anything. There were some heavy claw marks on the landing that looked almost like there was a struggle, but after that nothing seemed to be disturbed in the ways they saw before. Thatch sighed and held his heart to calm himself down and looked again, this time to figure out what the room was like. It seemed like a gym, only problem was, blue meshed black chemicals were dripping from the ceiling.
"I, guess that whatever did all that.... is gone." He said, though still worried.

ooc: not the best, but for the procrastinations, it should suffice.

"That's what I thought," Gwen agreed, still examining the burn marks carefully as if there were some kind of message scrawled beyond them. Unsure if she really wanted to know what had caused these marks, and wondering why Thatch wanted to follow them if it meant it could lead them to trouble, Gwen tentatively climbed the warped stairs after him.
"Gone, but still somewhere in the building, I assume," Gwen pointed out, her gaze panning the entire room. She wasn't exactly leaping at the chance to dodge some of the chemicals dripping from the ceiling, either. A dark sense of foreboding lodged itself in her chest whenever she saw any trace of it. Something bad seemed to nearly always happen when they encountered that stuff.
"Do you think Kyle knows about this?" Gwen asked absently, having originally meant it as a rhetorical question, but once it was said, she realised she rather did want to know. Kyle had been here for much longer, and knew the place far better than they did, after all. Maybe he would have been able to shed a little light on this situation. "Or had anything to do with it?"

"I suppose he would know about it, but" Thatch began, trailing off as he thought about her other remark. "I think we should get going, not think about this right now." He said, thinking about what that might mean if Kyle had been responsible for all of this. Come to think of it, his stories hadn't quite added up too well, like Gwen had mentioned before. Whatever the case, there was no way of knowing if any of those hell rats where around and listening and no matter what the case, it would do them no good if he heard them.
"We just need to get up to the upper floors, we do that and we will be able to forget all of this anyway." He said and looked about one more time to see how they might be able to forgo contact with whatever fell from the ceiling. All he saw was a narrow path along the wall which was void of the infectious stuff, though a patch near the end seemed weak.
"Look, there's a way around, let's go that way and maybe we can stay um, not worse I guess." He said, having a hard time thinking of his body as his own anymore, it was just too weird. He walked over to the path and looked it over one more time. It seemed that Gwen would probably be able to just walk through on her own, but Thatch's wings would be to wide to do so, so he flattened himself against the wall, needing to spread his wings out in order to avoid the shower he would be forced to watch as he moved. Carefully, though rather quickly, he inched his way around the room over near the next door which, as a change of luck, was another stair case, which was intact... for once.

"Forget?" Gwen snorted. "Hardly."
Idly, Gwen used her three clawed fingers to carve a few random lines in the wall she was standing near, trying to distract herself. She kept getting shivers up her spine, her limbs were going numb, and her head felt cold. Altogether, she felt thoroughly weird, and afraid.
Doing a remarkably good job at hiding this fear, Gwen slowly followed after Thatch as he shuffled along the wall to the other side of the room, always quickly glancing to one side as a drop falling from the ceiling caught her eye in her peripheral vision.
The fingers of fear curled around her heart tightened their grip as Gwen remembered how clumsy she was when she got nervous, and she suddenly tripped over her own feet, falling flat on her face. Miraculously, she was still safe.
"That was just perfect," Gwen grumbled, moving into a crouching position. As she did so, she lost her balance, and her left hand instinctively shot out to catch her fall, placing itself in a nice puddle of the blue and black liquid. Realising what she had done, Gwen scrambled back against the wall, pulling her left hand away. She held the hand out of sight for a moment, not really fancying watching it mutate, and, once the strange numbing feeling ceased, tentatively peeked at her new hand.
"It's...fine..." Gwen whispered, incredulous, twisting her wrist so she could see her hand from all angles. She gently touched it with her right hand, and accidentally cut it with a claw. She swore, shaking it out a little, and then looking at it again. There wasn't even a trace of a cut. Experimentally, she cut the hand again. It healed almost instantly. She raised a brow.
"Oh. Fantastic. My left hand can heal itself. That is so incredibly useful. Because I really need to protect my left hand, being right-handed and everything..." Gwen grumbled, standing slowly and walking beside the wall to where Thatch had stopped.

"Well, at least that's beneficial. Maybe these chemicals aren't all bad eh?" Thatch said looking at her hand for a moment, trying to be optimistic.
"At least you still look mostly human, at least, enough that could be hidden you know?" He suddenly felt a little sad. He had accidently accepted the fact that he was now a total freak of un-nature. "Let's, let's just move on." He said and started walking towards the open hall that was their next destination.
Within the small hall, was another stair case. But a strange one which went backwards, as in up, but in the directions they had just come from. Added to that, it was long. Very long. I mean really long.
By the time they made it to the top it felt as if six hours had passed, though it was no where near that amount of time.
"FINALLY!" Thatch shouted and angrily kicked the door at the top in, the door flying off and hitting the wall on the other side. "Why'd they make this place?!" He said panting and looking back to Gwen to see if she wanted any help. On the wall, slightly smudged due to door damage, was a sign. A sign which read, <-- Elevator, Cafeteria, Elevator controls, Gift shop storage -->

ooc: F$#@, my post sucks. I'll do better next time. I decided it was about time they get a break though, so I added the elevator. Buuuuut.....

"I...guess so..." Gwen raised a brow, looking at her hand critically. She had to admit, being optimistic seemed to be the best way to handle this type of situation. Even so, Gwen almost sort of felt sorry for Thatch. Optimism wasn't always necessary a good thing. Then again, this was coming from a pessimist.
Getting another headache from all this thinking, Gwen was almost happy when they had to spend what felt like a day walking up the stairs. It took her mind off things. Which was something she especially needed when faced with what Thatch had just said about her being able to hide her mutations, seemingly unaware of how bluntly he was pointing out that he couldn't. Or perhaps he was well aware, and was trying to make Gwen feel bad. She somehow doubted that; Thatch didn't seem like that kind of person.
Gwen almost laughed as Thatch kicked the door in at the top. Almost. She might have, under different circumstances. But she didn't. She didn't even smile, simply collapsing at the top of the stairs, regretting the fact that they had stopped. Now she had time to think again.
Sighing, she looked around herself, searching for something to take her mind of things. Her eyes widened. She didn't even speak for a moment, she just pointed.
"Elevator?" She stopped herself. She was being optimistic. Currently, that was Thatch's job. She could hardly expect the old thing to be working after what must've been decades since this place was running. Something else caught her eye. "Cafeteria. Something edible, this time?"

OoC| Heck no, I'm not gonna be creative xDDD

Thatch's stomach growled at the thought of food, but he suppressed his desires, figuring it best to at least see if the elevator worked first. It didn't take any time at all to get to the elevator, but upon arrival it was soon evident that it wasn't working, the sign above saying 'Out of service due to power fluctuation.'
"Dang it, that's not fair... maybe we can just go find something the other way?" Thatch offered both sad and happy about the situation, mostly due to the fact that he would be able to find something to eat since he hadn't had anything since that rat the other day, and he didn't want to think about that.
"Yeah, let's go the other way and see if we can get this thing running." He said, answering himself and starting off in the other direction again.
Not long did it take to pass the stairs they had used, and not long after that did they reach the end of the hallway to find the largest room that they had encountered as of yet. It was a massive room which, by the tables and chairs, must have been the cafeteria. Along the center and edges there were raised treadmills which ran beneath heat lamps, obviously supposed to be how the food was delivered around, a bit like a sushi shop. However, they were obviously malfunctioning as they were running incredibly fast, enough that they looked to be still, though the sound was unmistakably one of something moving quickly.
Thatch inspected one of the treadmills to make sure they were real, and after lightly touching one with a claw he found that his claw had been ground down ever so slightly, sharpened.
"Wow, I don't think these things are safe, but they have to go to the kitchen, so maybe we could just follow them." He said, trying not to sound excited, though his tails flicked about and betrayed his ruse. However, that didn't matter as he looked down the treadmill to see it stretch off quite a distance to a wall which seemed miles away, though he knew it wasn't, at least, quite that far.

Gwen sighed and shrugged to herself after they found the elevator to be inoperative. Figured. Gwen could hardly believe the computers were still working, and she could scarcely expect the elevator to still be safe in any case. If they needed to, they could always somehow remove or make a hole in the elevator and Thatch could fly up the shaft or something. If that was possible. Probably too small a space.
Feeling slightly uncomfortable with the thought of getting the elevator running, Gwen followed Thatch in silence, simply letting him lead her about. She hardly had any better ideas, and they seemed to be making progress.
Upon reaching what must have been the cafeteria, and laying eyes upon the treadmill, Gwen's hair twisted away, trying to get as far away from the treadmills as possible, as if afraid of being caught in them.
"Yeah, okay," Gwen replied, speaking for the first time in a while, getting a little nervous with the treadmills speeding around her at a dangerous pace. Wanting to get away from them, Gwen immediately made her way to the place where they passed through a hole in the wall, presumably into the room beyond. As she got closer, she couldn't help but notice that the area of the door near the floor had dulled in colour compared to the top, and the floor around it was covered with a light film of colourless liquid, from which was growing some kind of fungus, some of which looking much like mushrooms in shape, but were a sky blue in colour, dappled with green.
Gwen heard her stomach rumble, and was disgusted, but was still staring at the mushrooms. They may be edible, but Gwen wasn't really sure she wanted to take that chance, and so let her hair reach over for her and pull the door carefully open.
The mushrooms were everywhere.
They were growing on the tables in shades of grey, over cupboards in pink, up the walls in red and black. There were even a few of the purple variety hanging from the roof. They seemed to avoid the treadmill as it sped past, however; perhaps it moved too fast to provide suitable living conditions.
"Yuck." was all Gwen could manage as she stood in the doorway.

OoC| There. For once, I made something up for you to go on xDD If you don't mind that, that is. ^^;;
