Longing for Safety... « Thread Started on Jun 30, 2006, 7:20pm »
Dragons are evil, right? That's what's been passed down through the ages. Most people avoid them, ignore them forever. Some people believe in them, and try all they can to protect them. But gradually they're becoming extinct, losing their habitat. Can anyone save them?
Yes. A secret reserve in the mountains provides the perfect place, a sanctuary to escape the humans. One Dragon Master owns the estate, having believed in the Dragons since childhood. But he is old, and soon to die. What will happen then?
A rich Dragonologist offered to buy the estate and look after the Dragons, and the Dragon Master accepted on his death-bed. But after the property was his, the new owner revealed his true colours; instead of being a caring Dragonologist, he was a rich tycoon intent on revealing the Dragons for money.
So now he has taken over, capturing all the Dragons he can find on the estate to put into cages in the developing zoo. Most of the Dragons are now captured, leaving a small number of them remaining, elusive and intent of survival. Will they survive?

A small ripple broke the surface of the lake, as a scaly black head arose from the depths. Two silvery horns adorned the head as the creature swam to the shore. As it padded up the bank, the rest of it's sleek body emerged from the crystal waters. The black scales shimmered in the sunlight, as the blue wings shook to dry. The turquoise paws retracted silver talons as the blue spines on its back glistened in the pale light. Its fire-coloured fox brush flicked from side to side as the draxen sat in the grass, teal eyes scanning the country.
After a few minutes, Gwendolen (for that was her name) stood up and flew swiftly into the forest, the wolf-sized body flitting through the trees. She had to warn the others, for danger was near.

Meanwhile, an ebony black mound sat in a slump, feverently trying ot remember what he had been trying to remember. Silly thing, that was, when you couldn't remember what you wanted to remember, and yet it seemed to sit right in front of your face and mock you whilst you fretted away, hoping it was nothing too important. As felt Katxin, or better known as Kat. He looked particularly sad as he scanned the forest around him, as if what he was looking for would suddenly appear and everything would be alright again. Kate had always been a problem to the surviving dragons and the like. When exactly would he forget he was a dragon? When would he forget that going back to the sanctuary was not a good thing, and kill himself? Well, only time could tell really, as he continued to look depressed, sitting in a pile of leaves.

A scarlet streak swam just below the surface of the ever rippling lake. Her name was Xotl, her scales like teardrops from the sun, her head adorned with golden horns. Her freinds were gone it was only she that remained, but somewhere in her ever blackening heart, she knew that some-one cared.
